Inc. Magazine App App Reviews

5 star for the content and paper mag, 1 star for the app

This review is only for the app. I am in love with the magazine and is both a paper subscriber and also became a digital subscriber. The app is a very very basic ereader worthy of 2009 first gen iPad apps. 1) is there any reason why the text in the mag is not actually text but a bitmap image? It is acceptable that there werent any effort made to make it more iPad friendly but IMO text should be kept in text format so that retina displays can do what they were meant to do and be able to zoom in and still see sharp text right now all the mags are basically equivalent of just scanned pdfs of the real magazine. 2) no or very few iPad multi media content. There was one link to a video as part of an interview, but when you click it, it takes you to inc magazines website, and the video doesnt even work on an iPad (does not show up.) Overall I feel this app does not do justice to the tremendous writers and great content in the magazine. I am a big fan of the mag but for a good example of a good iPad mag app, see the Wireds implementation. This app overall leaves me yearning for the paper mag... Much to be desired.

Not free

Not free but cost per issue.....

Ads

Updated version is creating problems, pop up ads and video commercials are stuck and cant go back to the magazine content. Just want to read the articles.

Inc

If business is your interest this is a highly recommended magazine. I have had an annual subscription for many years now. There are tons of great tips and tricks for start ups and small business.

Lost purchases

Enjoined the magazine but the latest changes are frustrating to the point where I will not renew and the app will be deleted. Update removed past issues which I can not restore. New look is clunky and less intuitive. Doesnt help that the new look made it difficult to figure out that all my past issues are gone. Frustration leading to anger...

Best mag, good app

Inc. is the best magazine for business owners, bar none. It gives me great insights on real topics and tons of ideas and inspiration from people who have done it. With the updated print design, the straight-up app pages now also look terrific.

Cant view on iPad Mini!!!

Please fix the view of the library on the ipad mini. I have a subscription and had been reading on my ipad 3 but recently bought a mini and now I cant even view the magazines. They run altogether making it impossible to download an issue. Fix quick!!!

Love the magazine but not the app

Great magazine. I was so thrilled there was an app to download ago I could access it easier. (I have the original iPad) Too bad its so glitchy I cant read more than a few pages without it closing on me. There are all these cool features where you can snip and save articles, and blow up the pages to see them better... Except attempting to use any of them closes the app usually. And dont even get me started on that Cigna add you cant get out of. Thats where I am currently stuck and I guess Im going to have to uninstall then reinstall (for the second time and Im not yet halfway through with the magazine).

Escape ads?

Was reading the July/August issue when a Cigna ad popped up. Couldnt figure out how to advance out of it.

The Cigna ad Trap

That horrible Cigna Ad can easily persuade people to unsubscribe and stop buying your magazine. Its woefully annoying when you cant get out of an ad page you never wanted to be on in the first place.

Crashes on orig. iPad :(

Crashes upon opening. Cant get any further than that.

iOS 7 version difficult to escape ads

After update for iOS 7: Inc Magazine added horribly annoying Cigna ads that are extremely difficult to escape and annoying auto play video ads -- should only play when I choose to play, not auto play. Please eliminate these type of ads. It completely ruins the experience. If these types of ads we cannot easily escape are not removed, I will plan to unsubscribe to an otherwise good magazine.

Do not buy inc anymore!!!

Now you are forced to watched full screen ads while reading or browsing through the magazine. And NO you cannot close the ad. Worst is the Cigns ads that you HAVE TO click on Facebook like link to get out. Is this company really this stupid???

A waste!

I ended my print subscription but started a digital subscription and wish I didnt. The video ad that comes on totally ruins my experience. I cant even read the magazine now. The video just continues to play and never allows me to see the magazine. Dont do the digital subscription. Not worth the hassle.

Get rid of the automatic ads

Cant stand the automatic full screen ads which also tend to crash the app. Hard to say if the magazine itself is good as these are so prevalent.

awesome upgrade

dont know what people are talking about with the ads...you just slide it down and out of sight??

Love the magazine, hate the app

Watch out where you click. Mistakenly clicked on a Signa insurance ad and was never able to return to the magazine.

Easy layout

I havent had any problems with escaping pop up ads or clicking on the wrong buttons. I find the issues easy to navigate and I enjoy the interactivity

My favorite iPad Magazine

Although some of the adds are annoying, Inc. is my favorite magazine on my iPad. It is one of the few that allows me to easily take “clippings” and post them to Twitter, Camera Roll, etc. I really like the way it allows me to share! I read about 10 magazines on iPad but only get really excited when the new Inc is available to download.

Ads every other page

There are ads Im almost every other page. Im guessing 40% of the 150 or so pages are ads....obnoxious
